When securing high-value assets or commercial premises, a standard padlock often isn't enough to stop determined intruders. The Kasp 175 Armoured Shutter Lock is designed to fill the gap between standard security and high-end industrial protection. Its primary application—locking down roller shutters and shipping containers—demands a specific geometry. The "anvil" or "block" style shape leaves very little of the shackle exposed, making it notoriously difficult for bolt cutters or saws to find a purchase point. This physical design alone acts as a powerful visual deterrent, signalling to potential thieves that the entry point is hardened.

Sophisticated Anti-Pick Technology

Brute force isn't the only threat to your security; intelligent manipulation (lock picking) is a growing concern. The Kasp 175 addresses this with a sophisticated 5-pin cylinder mechanism. Unlike standard pins, this lock utilizes "mushroom pins." These pins are shaped to catch on the cylinder wall if they are not lifted perfectly by the correct key. This creates a "false set" sensation that confuses lock pickers and makes raking or bumping the lock significantly harder. Furthermore, the keyway is "paracentric," meaning it is cut with a zigzag profile that crosses the centre line. This restricts the room available for inserting picking tools or drills, adding another layer of frustration for attackers.

The term "armoured" refers to the smart composite construction of the lock body. Inside, a solid brass core ensures smooth, non-corrosive mechanical operation that won't seize up over time. However, brass is a relatively soft metal. To compensate, Kasp has encased this core in a heavy-duty steel jacket. This jacket absorbs the impact of hammer blows and protects the inner mechanism from crushing forces.
