Frequently Asked Questions
When should I use a two-part epoxy instead of superglue?
When should I use a two-part epoxy instead of superglue?
While superglue (cyanoacrylate) is excellent for instant repairs on tight-fitting, non-porous parts, it can be brittle under heavy impact. A two-part epoxy takes longer to cure but creates a vastly stronger, highly durable, and impact-resistant structural bond. Epoxy is also excellent for gap-filling, whereas superglue requires surfaces to be perfectly flush.
What is the difference between standard PVA wood glue and PU (polyurethane) wood glue?
What is the difference between standard PVA wood glue and PU (polyurethane) wood glue?
Standard PVA glue is water-based, easy to clean up, and perfect for standard interior furniture making and joinery. PU wood glue, however, cures by reacting with moisture in the air and the wood. It expands slightly as it dries to fill small gaps and creates a 100% waterproof bond, making it the superior choice for exterior joinery and garden furniture.
How do contact adhesives actually work?
How do contact adhesives actually work?
Unlike standard glues where you press wet parts together, contact adhesive requires a different technique. You must apply a thin layer of the adhesive to both surfaces and wait for them to "tack off" (become touch-dry). Once the two coated surfaces are pressed together, they grip instantly and permanently, making it the ideal adhesive for applying sheet laminates, veneers, or edge banding where clamping isn't possible.
