Frequently Asked Questions
Are direct gas-fired space heaters safe to use indoors?
Are direct gas-fired space heaters safe to use indoors?
Direct gas-fired heaters are highly efficient, but because they release the by-products of combustion (including moisture and carbon monoxide) directly into the heated space, they must only be used in highly ventilated areas. They are ideal for open construction sites, large warehouses with open bay doors, and agricultural sheds, but should never be used in tightly sealed, unventilated domestic rooms.
Do I need an electrical supply to run a gas heater?
Do I need an electrical supply to run a gas heater?
Yes. While the actual heat is generated by burning the propane or butane gas, these heaters require a standard 110V or 230V electrical supply to power the internal fan (which forces the hot air out into the room) and the electronic ignition system.
What size heater do I need for my workshop or site?
What size heater do I need for my workshop or site?
Heater power is measured in kilowatts (kW) or British Thermal Units (BTU). The size you need depends on the total cubic volume of the space, the current ambient temperature, and the level of insulation. As a general rule for uninsulated industrial spaces, you will need a significantly higher kW output to maintain a comfortable working temperature than you would for an insulated domestic garage.
