Description

Grade A2 (304) Corrosion Resistance

Standard zinc-plated window screws quickly tarnish and bleed orange rust when exposed to salty sea air or urban pollution. Manufactured from premium A2 (304) austenitic stainless steel with a high Corrosion Rating of 4, these screws provide outstanding defense against oxidation. This ensures your window fabrications remain structurally sound and visually pristine in coastal and industrial environments.

Self-Countersinking Head Ribs

Protruding screw heads on window sashes and frames create unsightly snag points and prevent friction stays from closing smoothly. The flat countersunk head features integrated under-head ribs that carve away profile material as the screw seats. This gives you the practical benefit of a smooth, flush fit in timber and plastic without requiring manual countersinking or leaving raised edges.

Sharp Gimlet Tip & Single Thread

Driving screws into unreinforced UPVC or hardwood frames without a pilot hole can cause the screw to walk across the surface or fracture the profile. The sharp gimlet tip pierces the substrate instantly upon contact, while the single thread draws the screw smoothly into the material. This reduces insertion torque while forming a deep, high-pullout thread inside the unreinforced frame.

PH2 Deep Recess Drive

Slipping driver bits during window assembly can scratch expensive double-glazed units or ruin delicate frame finishes. Featuring a precisely machined Phillips PH2 recess, these screws provide maximum driver bit engagement. This minimizes cam-out, reduces operator fatigue, and allows for quick, slip-free driving using handheld cordless drivers or automated assembly tools.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I drive these screws into window frames reinforced with steel inserts?

No. These screws feature a gimlet tip intended strictly for unreinforced plastic or timber. Driving A2 stainless steel gimlet screws directly into steel reinforcement will snap the screw head off. For reinforced frames, always use self-drilling window screws (Tek screws).

What is the benefit of the under-head ribs?

The ribs act as tiny reaming blades beneath the countersunk head. As the screw finishes driving into UPVC or timber, these ribs carve out a neat recess, allowing the head to sit perfectly flush without bulging or cracking the surrounding material.

Is A2 stainless steel suitable for coastal window installations?

Yes. A2 (304) stainless steel carries a Corrosion Rating of 4, making it highly resistant to salt spray, atmospheric moisture, and pollution. It prevents the unsightly orange rust staining associated with standard zinc screws on coastal builds.
