You can’t tell the history of Somerset's independent trade supply without telling the history of Electro South West.
Electro South West Ltd was founded in 1986 by Martyn Clapp, a former production planning engineer, and his wife Tracey. The business started out as a dedicated zinc electroplating firm bringing a foundational, roots level understanding of metal, durability, and craftsmanship to everything they touched. Recognizing a critical need in the local engineering sector, Martyn soon expanded the company's horizons, stepping directly into supplying high-quality fixings and fasteners.
Over the course of four decades, that family-run operation naturally evolved. As the needs of the community grew, so did we. We expanded from our specialist finishing roots into a premier independent powerhouse, supplying major engineering companies across Somerset and the wider UK
A heritage that began with a production engineer's vision, and continues today.
At our core, we are a company of practical experts. That’s who we are. Because of this, the growth of Electro South West is a process that will never end. Today, you can find us still operating from our physical trade counter and warehouse in the heart of Bridgwater, Somerset, where we remain deeply immersed in our commitment to keeping local industry, national engineering firms, and serious DIYers moving forward.
