Product Details
Built for speed, grip, and tidy finishes, Vortex screws combine a recessed double countersunk head with sharp under‑head milling ribs, so the head seats flush without separate countersinking. A sharp, wide, deep thread uses SawFix serrated technology to cut as it drives, reducing torque and powering through tough substrates. Most sizes add an oblique‑angle sharp gash point for a fast start that helps prevent splitting—ideal for clean work in hardwood, softwood, MDF, chipboard, plywood, uPVC, and even thin sheet metal.
The recessed double countersunk head increases the strength of the screw beneath the head reducing the likelihood of shearing. Sharp milling ribs under the head assist with effective countersinking eliminating the need to countersink the wood before insertion.
The sharp, wide and deep thread, featuring ‘Saw Fix’ serrated thread technology, enables the screw to power through a wide range of materials quickly and easily. Most Vortex screw sizes also include an oblique-angle sharp gash point, which creates a quicker start, self-drills the hole and reduces the possibility of wood splitting.
These high-performance screws will easily power through hardwood, softwood, plywood, chipboard, MDF, uPVC and thin sheet metal. The high-quality zinc and yellow plating offers resistance to corrosion, whilst the Gleitmo dry lubrication allows for easier driving.

I ordered my Commando 35 in preference to an imported magdrill because I still believe in buying British. If the UK population won't buy British products then why should anyone else?
I was impressed with the solid build quality and functionality of the drill.
I do think that some design features could be improved on. The handles for example have the be removed to put the machine back in the case. Why not use a ratchet system? Also there is little clearance with longer bits, a taller track would have been good. Admittedly it is the entry level magdrill and despite my niggles I'm very pleased with my purchase.
As with all Ambersil products you get a quality product.
