Description

Thick Galvanised Rust Protection

Unlike electroplated BZP, which only offers a very thin aesthetic layer of zinc, galvanised steel features a much thicker, hard-wearing protective coating. This acts as a highly effective sacrificial barrier, fiercely protecting the underlying steel from rust and atmospheric corrosion even if the surface gets scratched making it ideal for permanent outdoor installations.

Essential Load Distribution

Driving heavy-duty structural bolts directly into timber or metal concentrates extreme pressure on a single, small point. These Form A washers instantly increase the bearing surface area, distributing the heavy clamping force to prevent crushing, pull-through, or damage to your raw materials under immense structural loads.

Industrial-Grade Durability

Galvanised hardware is built for tough, uncompromising environments. The rugged, matte-grey zinc finish is highly resistant to the impact and abrasion commonly found on active construction sites, agricultural yards, and heavy-duty landscaping projects.

Standardized Form A Precision

Even on rough, heavy-duty builds, mismatched hardware can compromise structural integrity. Manufactured to exact DIN-125A specifications, these metric washers maintain a consistent thickness and outer diameter. This guarantees a perfect fit alongside standard galvanised metric bolts and threaded rod, ensuring reliable performance across all your heavy assemblies.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Galvanised and BZP (Zinc Plated) washers?

While both use zinc to prevent rust, the application method is different. BZP (Bright Zinc Plating) is a thin, shiny electroplated layer best suited for indoors or light outdoor use. Galvanised steel has a much thicker, duller zinc coating that provides vastly superior, long-term rust resistance, making it the standard choice for heavy outdoor construction.

Why does the finish look duller and rougher than my other washers?

The galvanising process leaves a thicker, sometimes slightly textured matte-grey finish compared to the thin, shiny appearance of electroplating. This thickness is exactly what provides the superior weather protection and industrial durability.

Can I use galvanised washers with stainless steel bolts?

It is highly recommended not to mix them. Pairing galvanised steel with stainless steel in an outdoor environment can cause galvanic corrosion, which will rapidly eat away at the galvanised coating. Always match galvanised washers with galvanised bolts and nuts for a secure, long-lasting joint.
